Obviously I am way behind on posts...well better late than never, right?!
Keith and Kassidy went to their first Daddy Daughter Dance! It's an annual even every spring at our church, put on by Men's Ministry. Kassidy was surprised by Daddy with a bouquet of pretty flowers before their date, and with a beautiful wrist corsage at the dance. They went out to dinner first, then met up with Uncle Donnie and Sara for some dancing, silly photo booth pics, lots of yummy desserts, special one-on-one quiet time with Daddy, and more dancing and eating dessert. They even played Just Dance on the big screen and Keith, Kassidy, and Sara broke out in the dance moves from the game! I really wish I could've been there to see that. They all had a blast! What a special night they had together.
In May the 3rd grade classes had an all-day field trip to Columbia, our state capitol. They've been learning TONS of interesting facts about South Carolina's history this year (and I've been studying and learning tons, too!) so it was really neat to be able to chaperone. Kassidy had 2 of her best friends in her group and we had a great time! It was hard to keep up with them and their energy!
Here they are in front of the State House. We weren't allowed to go in, but we did climb all the stairs out front and peek in through the windows!
This was honoring all the different military branches.
Oh how these girls love to pose:)
This goes along with the next pic...it says how the women of SC were steadfast and unafraid, splendid in fortitude, strong towers of faith and hope...AMAZING!!!
This map shows the routes of the slave ships that traveled from Africa to Charleston.
I don't think the kids really "got" these pics, but boy did they leave an impression on me!
Goofing around on our break after lunch
Onto the SC History Museum
The Palmetto Flag, 1860-SC started displaying flags of various designs to show the states independent spirit. This flew over Fort Sumter.
Kassidy was very blessed to have family and friends watch her dance! And they brought her beautiful flowers and a cute little monkey:)
Kassidy with her cousin Sara, friend AnnDee, and brother Kaleb.
Lindsey and Sara
The 3rd grade classes also performed a play all about what they learned during the year about SC.
Each class had their turn on stage to do a different dance style. Theirs was the Shag...too cute:)For Memorial Day this year we decided to stay home and take it easy with a pool cookout. After traveling all week, Keith (and me too) were ready for a break:) We had such a nice, hot, relaxing day with friends.
Amanda and Kim do NOT want their picture taken!
Kaleb lost his first tooth!!! There is a story behind this...his Cub Scout group had a water fun day at the schools playground. He was "fighting" with his water gun and swinging on the monkey bars at the same time. He lost his grip while swinging and landed face first on the ground...not kidding...literally on his face! His nose and mouth both bled and his tooth was knocked loose. But, he saved his water gun:)
Kaleb was SOOOOOO excited when the tooth fairy, TJ, came to visit! He even brought a new tooth pillow with his name and hot air balloons painted on it. Oh, and some money of course:)
Stay tuned for baseball and more baseball...
