12 month post

I cannot believe that our last little boy is already 1!!! It's sad that we won't have any more babies around, but also very exciting to be getting out of the baby stage and onto the toddler stage...and all the firsts that go along with that:) Karson is now 21 lbs 5 oz (30th percentile) and 30.5 in (75th percentile). His weight is holding steady, definitely not as chunky as he was a few months ago, but he's grown so much taller. We moved him up to 18 month pants so he no longer has high waters on...hee hee! His feet continue to follow the Gailey kids path so far by being smaller, only a size 3. His hair hasn't changed too much on top but is starting to be curly in the back! I just love it:) I tried to get a few pics of his curls so you could see...

Karson is a very good sleeper. He goes to bed around 7:30 and wakes up around 7:30 or 8. We're in transition for naps so sometimes he takes 2 naps (10:30-12 and 2-3:30) and sometimes only takes 1 (1-4:30). He kind of just goes with the flow depending on what our schedule is.
He's really starting to like sleeping with his doggie blanket and puts the dogs head right next to his and the rest of the blankie under his body (he sleeps on his belly). It's just adorable how he grabs the dog and positions it just so every time!
Karson has had a rough few weeks with RSV and a double ear infection that took 2 rounds of antibiotics to get better. Needless to say, he was very fussy for awhile! And to make it worse, he's going through some major separation anxiety! Anytime Keith or myself put him down he's instantly start crying, then stop as soon as we picked him up. It's getting better but still going through it. His lungs and ears are all better now, thank goodness!
Karson babbles, sometimes a lot and sometimes not very much. He usually says dadadada, but has also said mamamama and babababa. The one word he does say consistently is uh-oh:) We've got some work to do with our words but we'll get there!
Karson is really into playing with toys now. He can pick up anything and press buttons to make them talk/sing so he enjoys them so much:) It's so neat how such a little boy can figure out how to make toys work.
Karson has learned so many new things these past few months and it's been so FUN to see him finally get on the move!!! The pics below show off his latest "firsts" since his 9 month post...enjoy:)
The kids love to wrestle with Daddy, and now Karson loves it, too...
...as long as they don't lay on Karson too hard!Teaching him to clap

Trying to get steady on his feet...he really doesn't care to stand very much yet

Texting his girlfriends:)
Big sis still LOVES to hold Karson and has even tried holding him standing up a few times lately...a big no-no!
Karson just loves any pasta

Another boy who loves playing with cars:)

Karson is so funny to watch eat...he really stares at the food and picks out his favorite to eat first, he's got a great pincer grasp already and eats just about anything we do. If he doesn't like something he'll put his hand out over the edge of the highchair tray, drop it on the floor, and say uh-oh!
This was the first time Karson pushed himself up to a sitting position. I found him like this after his nap. He was mad because I didn't pick him up right away but ran downstairs to get the camera to take a picture!
This was hilarious:) The kids love when I make mini chocolate chip pancakes. Well, so does Karson! This was his 6th, yes SIXTH, one! He loves to eat:)
This was his first tooth just popping through

More practice standing, he can play with one hand now and still balance pretty well

This night we had fajitas so why not see if Karson likes it, too, right? Well he did:)
Clapping!
Now we have 2 teeth!

Now, this boy is REALLY stubborn! He just likes his bottles so much that he doesn't want to use anything else, including any of the 6 different styles of sippy cups we have. He just bites them and laughs and bangs them on the tray. We've tried milk, water, juice, hot and cold, but no luck yet! Any ideas for us to try???

At least he'll feed himself the bottle:)
The walker isn't getting much walking yet
Who doesn't love a sleeping baby?!
Karson is a VERY ticklish boy! Especially high up on his sides
Karson's 1st crawl! He just learned about 2 weeks ago and it was a slow scoot-crawl. It took some real good convincing to get him to do it finally:)
Now he's figured out that he can go get what he wants:) He's been all around the family room and kitchen already exploring dropped pieces of food, dust bunnies, magnetic letters on the fridge, bags left on the floor, etc. We're quickly learning to pick up everything! Haven't had to worry about that for a few years so it's hard to get back into the habit. He's got more of a regular crawl now and is getting faster!

As you saw on the video, Karson loves to do So Big!

Chillin in his new ride...I don't think this is what it's meant for:)

Well, now you know everything about our little guy:) He's still such a sweet, mellow boy for the most part. Just loves his mommy a whole lot right now! We're so excited to see what Karson has in store for us this next year as he continues to grow and figure things out. We love you so much Karson and are so thankful that you're in our lives:)

Our big 1 yr old!

Karson had a GREAT 1st birthday:) On Sunday we had a party at our house with friends and family and lots of kids. It sure was a lot of fun!

We even had a few balloons and party hats!
Karson loved hitting the balloons
Cousins
Karson enjoyed the pizza
Birthday guests

Present time!
I was so proud of the kids for watching Karson open his gifts and not helping too much
Look what big sis did to me!
Cake time!

He dug right in and found out he really liked cake:) In the middle he took a small break but then dove back in for more! I probably went a little overboard with messy cake face pics but they are just so darn cute!!!

Notice how much cake he ate?

This cake goatee cracks me up! End result...
Now on his actual birthday the kids decided what he should eat for breakfast...a waffle and chocolate chip pancake (each of their favorites of course). He loved them both:)
After dinner it was present time from grandparents, aunts/uncles, and mommy and daddy. As you'll see in the pics below, Karson was VERY good at unwrapping the gifts! He grabbed lots of pieces and ripped them off without any help. He got so many great toys and adorable outfits!

He was so excited to open the gifts that he crawled to them

A few days before, big sis and big brother helped me decorate another cake. They each got one side of the cake as their own and really went all out with the icing:)Then they each picked out a candle to put on their side of the cake and helped Karson blow it out
More cake!
Needless to say, Karson had such a fun filled 1st birthday:) We just can't believe he's one! Thanks to everyone for the cards, toys, clothes, gift cards, etc. He'll have a great time these next few months finding out how all the toys work. You all made it such a special few days for him!!!
Stay tuned for another post about Karson's latest milestones...

The next day was my birthday...so many birthdays around here lately! Kassidy made this card and picture for me at school. The picture is me (of course!)

Daddy even suprised me with a very yummy white chocolate and strawberry cake complete with numbers...which I haven't had on a cake in years:)
It was so nice to have a day where I received so many texts, emails, cards, and gifts to help celebrate my special day:) THANK YOU SO MUCH! ! ! ! ! We have so many blessings from God to be thankful for...here's to many, many more years!
